Happy (Almost) Halloween to you!
Here's an easy way to celebrate with a gorgeously dark and spooky hummus that can be your next party pleaser. Start by making my black tahini, or buy it if you can find it, and add it to your blender with some cooked black beans.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups cooked black beans
1/2 cup loosely packed cilantro
1 tablespoon Black Tahini (Black Sesame Paste)
1 1/2 teaspoons tamarind paste *
2 cloves garlic
1/2 jalapeno (or black pepper, if you don't like spice)
Salt to taste
Directions:
1. Throw everything in your food processor and blend thoroughly until it's super creamy
2. Serve with pita chips or tortilla chips and enjoy!
*Note: if you don't have tamarind paste, you may also use the juice of around 1/2 a lemon.
I love the versatility of this dip. If you happen to have too much of it leftover from your party, you can even use it as a filler for a quesadilla!
Enjoy your Halloween as much as I will!
